GOTTMAN METHOD

The Gottman Method for Healthy Relationships is an experiential form of couples’ therapy developed by psychologists Drs. John and Julie Gottman

Their findings are based on 40 years of evidence based research on couples across all life-stage that have led them to identify the key elements that promote healthy long-lasting relationship. Their work has consistently found that negative emotions have the power to damage relationships more than positive emotions have to nurture them

This modality focuses in helping clients create an ongoing culture of fondness and admiration, turning towards each other to express and meet each partner’s needs - especially in painful moments- to restore a positive view of the relationship

With these healthy elements in place conflict can be managed constructively leading to emotional connection and life dreams coming true

Throughout the therapeutic process, practical interventions such as ‘Repairs’ and ‘The Aftermath of a Regrettable Incident”, “Physiological Self-soothing” among many others are invaluable skills that clients learn to use at home in moments of emotional disconnection
